Gladiators v Diamonds – Meeting Preview

The Westcolour Gladiators return to action at The Coliseum on Tuesday night (Tapes Up 7.00pm) in a Championship League Fixture against the Newcastle Diamonds.

The Westcolour Gladiators will be seeking a 7th successive Championship League victory at Home to cement their place in the top 6 Play Off positions and following another excellent Away performance at Birmingham last week which deserved far more than a losing Bonus point the Westcolour Gladiators will be very much buoyed by the fact that they are the only side in the League to score more than 40 points in every Match Home and Away; and the significance of their consistently excellent Away performances will be a massive asset when the 2 legged Aggregate Home and Away Play Off period commences later in the season. Plymouth will surely be the side that everyone wishes to avoid in a 2 leg tie, especially considering that they have been without the Leagues outstanding reserve rider Dan Gilkes since mid May.

The Westcolour Gladiators again bring in GB Speedway legend Chris Harris, always very popular with his South Western fan base from his days at Trelawny and Somerset, to cover for injured no 1 Edward Kennett who is due to see a second Specialist about his arm injury on the 30th June. Dan Gilkes is continuing to make progress from his Arm and Rib injuries and we hope to have an exclusive interview on the website with Dan in the next week.

The Wescolour Gladiators will line up with:

Chris Harris

Alfie Bowtell

Ben Barker

Michael Palm-Toft

Hans Andersen

Ben Morley

Harry McGurk

The Visitors from Newcastle will provide dangerous opposition despite their League position as they include several former Plymouth riders from the Devils era and track specialists from the Clubs NDL era too.

They will operate Rider Replacement for the still missing Bradley Wilson-Dean and bring in Birmingham rider Ashley Morris as a Guest replacement for the injured Australian veteran Matthew Weathers. There is better news for Newcastle fans with the return from injury of the ever-popular Paul Starke and the Diamonds top 5 is completed by Max Clegg who has always performed well at The Coliseum and Grass Track ace James Wright who made a very successful return to the shale last season and who has continued his progress since.

The Diamonds septet is completed by Lee Complin, always an exciting rider to watch who has made a return to the sport this season and Kyle Bickley, who joined the Club last week as a replacement for Andy Smith following his own release somewhat unexpectedly from Berwick Bandits.

The Newcastle Diamonds will line up:

R/R (for Bradley Wilson Dean)

Ashley Morris

James Wright

Max Clegg

Paul Starke

Lee Complin

Kyle Bickley
