Centurions V The Colts Preview

The Plymouth SWTR Centurions are back in action on Tuesday evening against the Belle Vue Colts at The Coliseum – Tapes Up 7.00pm.

The SWTR Centurions were very unlucky in defeat in their opening NDL Match a couple of weeks ago and will face formidable opposition with The Colts many experts favourites to win the 2022 NDL (National Development League) League Title.

The SWTR Centurions will be spearheaded by Dan Gilkes who is outstanding form for the Clubs senior side the Westcolour Gladiators and Henry Atkins who gained a well deserved 3rd place in the British Under 21 semi final at Mildenhall yesterday to qualify for the 2022  British Under 21 Final later in the season.

With Richard Andrews and Adam Extance who both scored well in the season opener likely to be a lot sharper for that return to the track and Connor King recovered from a nasty hand injury, the Centurions will be hopeful of a big performance. Young reserves Ben Trigger, who scored a commendable 8 points in the British Under 21 semi final just failing to qualify and Eli Meadows will also be keen to score big points for the Home side.

The Colts are led by the familiar face of Nathan Ablitt who rode for Poole Pirates at The Coliseum last week. Jack Smith is another familiar figure at The Coliseum following a short spell riding for The Gladiators last season and the son of former British Champion Andy Smith forms a formidable looking spearhead with Ablitt and the Yorkshire born McGurk (Harry and sibling Sam) twins who are very much at home now across the Pennines and after outstanding Youth careers are both making rapid headway in the senior ranks.

Bringing a degree of experience, although still only 21 is Jack Parkinson-Blackburn. Jack looked to be a future world class performer when bursting onto the scene around 5 years ago but beset by some bad luck and personal issues seemed to fall out of the Sport for a few years. He returned last year and slowly started to return to race fitness and remains another possible outstanding prospect and all in the Sport will wish him well. At reserve the Colts have another excellent prospect in Archie Freeman and 15 year old Freddy Hodder, who is another highly regarded and fast improving young talent.

Tickets are ON SALE ONLINE via the online ticket store here and the Match will be LIVE STREAMED by Gladiators TV, for those who can’t make it or wish to watch from anywhere in the world.
