Cheetahs v Gladiators Preview

The Westcolour Gladiators travel to Oxford tonight to fulfil the away leg of the Jubilee League (Southern Division) fixture, following a sensational performance at The Coliseum last night against The Cheetahs, which ended in a 45-45 draw, in a meeting packed with exciting racing, numerous passing moves and enough thrills and spills to keep the large crowd fully entertained from start to finish.

The Gladiators are again missing Edward Kennett, Michael Palm Toft, Hans Andersen and Dan Gilkes and Harry McGurk from their original 7 man team tonight. They bring in the hugely entertaining Josh Pickering as guest alongside James Wright and operate Rider Replacement for the missing Kennett, with exciting young prospect Jake Mulford replacing McGurk for the evening.

The full Line Up is Ben Barker, Alfie Bowtell, RR (for Edward Kennett) James Wright (Guest); Josh Pickering (Guest), Ben Morley and Jake Mulford.

With the Gladiators Management hopeful that Michael Palm Toft and Hans Andersen may soon be able to return, anticipation also now moves to the return to CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE action, next Tuesday (the 2nd of August) against the Birmingham Brummies.

Having had a few weeks break to focus on the Jubilee League action, the Westcolour Gladiators will be hoping to both secure a top six Play-off place, with three vital Home fixtures to come along with two away matches at Berwick and Edinburgh in a busy August programme.

With hopes of making the Play-offs very strong and the prospect of returning to an almost fully fit team by the end of August, the following dates should be added to your diaries as the Westcolour Gladiators certainly deserve maximum support and as was again seen at The Coliseum against the Cheetahs.  The team have an incredible spirit,  intensity and a desire to bring some silverware home to the South West.

The August CHAMPIONSHIP Home Fixtures are:

Tuesday 2nd August v Birmingham Brummies – Championship

Tuesday 16th August v Redcar Bears – Championship

Tuesday 23rd August v Glasgow Tigers (rearranged) – Championship

There is also a scheduled NDL Fixture for the SWTR Centurions on Tuesday 9th August v Berwick Bullets.

Tickets for the massive Championship clash v Birmingham next Tuesday are on sale via the online ticket store here, and we’ll have further news about that fixture tomorrow morning in the review of the meeting at Oxford tonight.
