Dillon Ruml confirmed as a Gladiator.
Plymouth Gladiators have added promising Californian based rider, Dillon Ruml to their team for 2021.
The American, who will celebrate his 22nd birthday on March 4th, is one of a number of Stateside riders who are beginning to make a name for themselves in the sport and looking to further their careers in other countries.
Ruml, whose brother, Max, is also a rider, began riding aged just eight and won numerous titles in the junior ranks.
Since moving up to senior racing, he has continued to enjoy great success, most recently finishing as runner-up, with brother Max, in the American National Best Pairs Championship, a title the duo won in 2018, the same year that Dillon won both the Californian State Championship and the Grand Final of the AMA National Championship.
Ruml was also part of the USA team which competed in the 2017 World Cup, progressing from the qualifying round, held at King’s Lynn, to the race-off in Leszno, Poland.
Gladiators’ promoter Mark Phillips feels that Ruml has the ability to progress rapidly.
‘I’ve heard good things about Dillon, and he is used to riding small technical tracks in the States which are similar to Plymouth.
He is very ambitious, and we have seen in the last few years how other young American riders such as Broc Nicol and Luke Becker have progressed, so I see no reason why Dillon won’t continue that trend.’
Ruml is a long-standing friend of Martin Hagon of Hagon Shocks, who will continue to support the American during his time in the UK.
The Gladiators now have one final team place to fill, with an announcement expected in the next few days.
