Gladiators ready to go!
As the Gladiators countdown to the three Team Tournament against The Isle of Wight Warriors and the Eastbourne HG Aerospace Eagles Select, Commercial Director Ian Jordan looks ahead to the clash, which takes place next Tuesday the 8th of September (tapes up 7pm).
“We were delighted to finally obtain all of the necessary approvals to commence Racing and have currently scheduled 2 Fixtures on a Tuesday (7.00pm) in September and 2 Fixtures on Saturday’s (6.00pm) in October.
The aim of the Tuesday Fixtures is to test viability, as we are very aware that to achieve our ambitions of moving up in to either The Championship (or Premiership), that with 4 Clubs already Racing on a Friday in the CL, we have to be pragmatic and proactive and offer a solution to facilitate entry to the CL.
We can also offer a positive marketing slant of a “South West Tour” to Northern Clubs to visit Somerset or Poole on a Wednesday after Plymouth on a Tuesday, to reduce costs and entice more travelling Support to both venues
The Covid 19 pandemic brings with it many challenges, but we are confident that with the co-operation of Riders and Supporters we can put on an exciting safe and positive showcase for the Sport in general.
Our new Online Ticketing facility has proven a great success with excellent feedback about ease of use, as Online Ticketing is compulsory at this time and likely to remain so for the foreseeable future, this is very welcome news.
We must stress that there will be NO Cash or Card admission on the night. Cash (in exact quantity as no change can be given due to cross contamination concerns) will be permitted for Food and Drink outlets. We ask that everyone wears a face covering ON ENTRY and when queueing for Toilets / Food + Drink.
Once inside the Stadium its use is at the discretion of each individual.
We believe we have assembled an outstanding group of National League Riders representing Plymouth, The Isle of Wight and an Eastbourne Select, the best possible available to us at this time in terms of ability and average.
Some leading Under 21 British Stars, some established top NDL level performers and in Jake Knight a rider returning to the Sport and keen to find a Team slot in 2021.
We’ll all be hoping that Tom Brennan who represents Team GB in the European Under 21 Team Championships will bring a medal of some sort to show us all, although I think everyone will have their hands full with a revitalised and resurgent Henry Atkins, who has been flying in recent practice sessions.”
Ticket Sales have exceeded our initial expectations and we are very close to the maximum limit we can sell for the first pilot meeting, agreed with the Local Authority and the BSPL.
We must stress that once we reach the permitted level there will be “Full House” signs up and with around 20 left, if you want to come please ensure that you purchase your Tickets as soon as possible.”
