Westcolour Gladiators complete
The Plymouth Westcolour Gladiators are delighted to announce the final rider in their 2022 Championship Team.
Edward Kennett who had originally been named as a starting member of the planned septet, but who then had to drop out due to a planned work promotion close to his East Sussex Home, has now confirmed that he will be available to race in 2022 following a change in his work circumstances which is a massive boost to the Westcolour Gladiators.
35 year old Kennett; a highly experienced former British International and GP rider who has won honours with Rye House, Coventry and Eastbourne will be available for all Plymouth fixtures starting with the eagerly awaited Championship Knock Out Cup opener against reigning Champions the Poole Pirates next Tuesday 5th April at 7.00pm.
Westcolour Gladiators Director/Promoter Mark Phillips was delighted to confirm the news this morning and is sure that all Gladiators supporters will be delighted that Kennett has had a change of heart.
Phillips said “From the moment we initially heard of Edwards decision to put his work commitments first and foremost we completely understood his family and work priorities but have kept in contact with him.
We have spoken to a number of experienced Riders to try to fill the gap that he left at the top end of our team but despite a number of riders being very keen to join us problems with riders who are limited by Polish commitments and the clash with the Swedish League racing on a Tuesday night led to a number of frustrations.
I was delighted when Edward got back in touch to confirm; that whilst he will remain in his existing job role with his long term employers Robins of Herstmonceux who are his long term sponsors and also great supporters and sponsors of the sport, that his job promotion had been put on the back burner; allowing him to commit to riding for us for the 2022 season. Edward is very much a track specialist at Plymouth, and remains a very exciting and capable rider who has much to offer us and the Sport in general.
It is certainly a massive boost for us and with a very strong top 4 with Hans. Michael P-T and Ben, which we’d initially planned, plus 3 excellent prospects in Alfie, Henry and Dan, I’m more convinced than ever that we can be competing with anyone for the League and Cup Titles in 2022.
We started our NDL season last night with the Plymouth SWTR Centurions taking on the Kent Royals with a loss. We now look forward however, with renewed optimism and excitement to next Tuesday the 5th of April when the 2022 Westcolour Gladiators commence their 2022 season in the KO Cup against The Pirates.”
Tickets are available online via the ticket store and can also be purchased with cash at the turnstiles on the night.
