Gladiators put up gallant fight

A patched up Plymouth Prow Park Gladiators team put up a gallant fight in the final Cab Direct Championship fixture of the season, but suffered a 52-38 defeat against the Berwick Bandits, a loss which confirms that the Gladiators finish bottom of the Championship.

The depleted Gladiators team, with guests already required for Ben Baker, Dan Gilkes and Dan Thompson and with Richie Worrall, currently suspended, also lost skipper Kyle Howarth from the starting line up, following a heavy crash at Edinburgh the evening before.

Guests Simon Lambert, Jason Edwards and Kye Thomson all stepped in at the last minute and gave a battling performances, with Lambert the pick, top scoring with 14+2, backed by Edwards (9) Thomson (7+2), whilst one of the two original Gladiators James Pearson, continued his impressive scores at reserve with 7(+1)
