Colts v Centurions. Meeting Preview
The Plymouth SWTR Centurions embark on the long haul up the M5 / M6 early tomorrow morning for a Good Friday return Fixture (1.00pm start) against the Belle Vue Colts.
The Centurions will travel in a confident mindset after an excellent win at The Coliseum on Tuesday night when led by Henry Atkins and Dan Gilkes they enjoyed an excellent 53-37 victory
With the Plymouth senior side the Westcolour Gladiators being the only Championship side who aren’t in action on Good Friday, which is always traditionally the busiest day of the Speedway season, it means that Dan Gilkes and Henry Atkins will be available to spearhead the Centurions.
The Colts will be seeking a replacement for their Number 1 Nathan Ablitt, as his commitment as a reserve for Poole Pirates in the Championship takes priority.
The Belle Vue National Speedway Stadium track is a completely different type of Track to the small technical Coliseum; where the focus is more of technical skill and turning the bike into the corners at speed, whereas the Belle Vue Track which is 347 metres as opposed to the 200 metre track at The Coliseum, and sees a lot of riding right by the safety fence in the dirt line and has more of a focus on the bike and full throttle racing.
The Centurions will be without Richard Andrews who has work commitments. In his place will be 15 year old sensation Jody Scott, who stunned observers by scoring 9 points in the recent British Under 21 Individual semi final on his first actual race Meeting on a 500cc Speedway bike. The KIngs Lynn mascot is understandably being touted as a major new prospect in the Sport.
The Gladiators will line up:
Dan Gilkes
Connor King
Jody Scott (Guest for Richard Andrews)
Adam Extance
Henry Atkins
Ben Trigger
Eli Meadows
