So close for The Centurions

The SWTR Centurions were unlucky to suffer a narrow 44-45 points defeat to the table topping Berwick Bullets at The Coliseum last night.

In a much improved display, featuring an excellent debut by the returning Adam Roynon who scored 14 points from 6 rides. This included a very controversial exclusion in Heat 13, when he fell marginally after Berwick rider Greg Blair on the same bend, resulting in the very unusual decision that saw both riders excluded, a decision that ultimately swung the match Berwicks way.

Adam was well backed by Ben Morley, who recovered from an uncharacteristic last place in Heat 1 to record 12 points also from 6 rides, reserves Rhys Naylor and David Abraham also further emphasised their rapid progress since returning to the sport after long absences with 6 and 5 points respectively, giving the SWTR Centurions their most potent reserve pairing of an injury hit season.

Richard Andrews, whose fall when on a 5-1 with Naylor in Heat 12 was also a game changing moment and Adam Extance both deserved more points from the effort expended.

The SWRT Centurions next meeting is an Away Fixture against Kent on the 28th August, whilst rearranged dates against Armadale at Home and Mildenhall Away have yet to be confirmed.

Centurions V Bullets Preview

The Plymouth SWTR Centurions return to home track action at The Coliseum tonight,  with an NDL Fixture against the table topping Berwick Bullets.

The SWTR Centurions will welcome back Adam Roynon who makes a belated debut following his recent signing and his presence is sure to strengthen the team both on and off the track.

With Dan Gilkes still out of action and unlikely to be back soon as we reported on Sunday in our Northern Tour review, and regular replacement Alfie Bowtel also out of action with a couple of fractures in his leg and knee ligament damage, we will again welcome Ben Morley, who steps down from the Westcolour Gladiators Championship Team to guest in the No 1 position.

Ben Trigger is also nursing leg injuries so we will operate Rider Replacement in the no 2 slot but welcome back Richard Andrews who was missing on the Northern Tour due to long planned family commitments.
