Plymouth Gladiators have been dealt a significant blow ahead of Friday night’s Cab Direct Championship trip to Scunthorpe, with skipper Danny King ruled out after suffering a heavy crash whilst riding at King’s Lynn.
The Gladiators’ No.1 will miss the away meeting, with the club now working to secure a suitable replacement. An announcement on who will fill King’s place in the line-up is expected once arrangements have been confirmed.
King’s absence is another challenge for Garry May’s side as they look to build momentum in the Championship. Already dealing with Ben Barker’s injury, Plymouth must now prepare for an important away fixture without two of their most experienced riders.
While the immediate focus is on Friday’s meeting, supporters will also be hoping King’s injuries are not serious enough to keep him out for long. Attention will quickly turn to Saturday’s home clash with Redcar Bears at the St Boniface Arena, where the Gladiators will be eager to have their captain back leading the side.
For now, everyone at Plymouth will be wishing Danny a speedy recovery, with the hope that the damage is no worse than first feared and that he will be fit enough to reclaim his place at No.1 this weekend.
The club will provide a further update once a replacement rider for the Scunthorpe meeting has been confirmed.
