The Plymouth ProwPark Gladiators suffered a tough night at Wimborne Road, losing 58-32 against The Poole Pirates in the BSN Series Southern.

The Gladiators were holding their own and were only four points down after heat 6, but the Pirates took command of the second half of the meeting, delivering heat advantages in seven of the remaining races.

Dan Thompson continued his impressive start to the season, top scoring with 10, backed by skipper Ben Barker with 8(+1) whilst reserves Joe Thompson and Jacob Hook chipped in with 5+2 and 5+1 respectively.  The returning Nico Covatti withdrew from the meeting after two rides.

The return leg takes place at the Coliseum tomorrow (25th May), with tapes up at 7pm.

The Plymouth ProwPark Gladiators travel to Wimborne Road tonight to take on the Poole Pirates, boosted by the news of the return of Number 1 Nico Covatti.

As announced by Team Manager Garry May on Gladiators TV, the BSN Southern Series clash will see the Gladiators race with their full 1-7 for the first time this season.  The return leg takes place at The Coliseum this coming Saturday (25th May) with Tapes up at 7pm

The Plymouth ProwPark Gladiators pulled off a stunning away win, with a 42-48 victory over the Edinburgh Monarchs in the Cab Direct Championship.

Dan Thompson continued his stunning start to the season with an impressive 13 points backed by Ben Barker (9+1) and twin brotherJoe with 8+2 with the remaining Gladiators all chipping in with vital points.

The Plymouth ProwPark Gladiators start their two day Cab Direct Championship Northern tour with a tough away fixture against the Edinburgh Monarchs.  The Monarchs bring in Sam Hagon for Lasse Fredriksen (illness) whilst Dayle Wood comes in for Max James.

The Gladiators had booked Jason Edwards as a replacement for the injured Nico Covatti, but the Redcar rider suffered a fractured cheekbone following a crash at Berwick. His replacement is to be confirmed.

The Workington Comets ended the Plymouth ProwPark Gladiators unbeaten run at The Coliseum with a 43-47 victory in the Cab Direct Championship.

Following a delayed start due to track work, the Comets took a maximum heat victory in the opening race, before the Gladiators reserve pairing of Joe Thompson and Jacob Hook returned the compliment in the second heat.

Points were shared in heats 3 and 4, before Craig Cook took another victory on his way to a full maximum in heat 5. The Comets had opened up a 6 point lead by heat 7, before a 5-1 from Bowtell and Hook brought the deficit back to 2 after heat 8.

The away team extended the lead back to four after heat 11, before a further 5-1 in heat 14 meant that victory was beyond the Gladiators reach, despite a maximum 5-1 of their own in the nominated heat 15.   Alfie Bowtell top scored with 10+2, backed by Dan Thompson with 8+2

The Plymouth ProwPark Gladiators return to track action on Tuesday (14th May),  for their first Cab Direct Championship fixture of the season when they take on the high flying  Workington Comets.

The Gladiators, who bring in Paco Castagna at Number 1 as a guest to cover for the injured Nico Covatti, will aim to  continue their unbeaten home start at the Coliseum against a Workington team  who currently sit in 2nd place in the Championship, as well as having finished top of the Northern section of the BSN Series. The Comets team also includes the Championships first female rider  Celina Liebmann.

Kyle Newman top scored for the Gladiators with 14+1, backed by Ben Barker (10) and Dan Thompson (9+2), whilst the remaining riders scored valuable points with 8 points coming from Rider Replacement for the injured Nico Covatti.

The Gladiators also took the aggregate bonus point, following their two point loss at Sandy Lane in April, and currently sit at the top of the BSN Series Southern Group.
